Even though these barn kits are individual in their looks, they are not different from the other metal barn buildings in the availability of customization options. Metal Seneca Barn Sizes
Length of the metal barn buildings
The minimum length of our standard Seneca barns is 21’. This length can be increased in 5’ increments and the metal barn itself can be as long as you require.
The width of the metal barn buildings
As mentioned, there are three sections in the interior of a metal Seneca barn. Hence, when considering the width of the metal barn you will have to think about the width of the main aisle as well as that of the lean-tos. The minimum width of the main aisle of our metal barns is 12’.
The height of the metal barn buildings
What is different about the height of metal Seneca barns to the other metal barn buildings? It is that these barns have a roof that is continuous. The minimum leg height of the barn depends on whether you choose to enclose the metal building or not. The height of the barn should be able to accommodate the installation of openings.
Metal Seneca Barn Roof Style
Metal Seneca barns have an A-framed roof style similar to metal Carolina barns. But the drop-off from the central aisle to the lean-tos is not visible from outside. You can purchase these steel barns as either Boxed Eave metal barns or as Vertical metal barns. The roof overhangs on either side of the barn and side eave trim run underneath those overhangs. This refines the look of the metal structure.
Color Options with Metal Seneca Barns
We offer color options with all of our metal buildings so that our customers can have better control over the aesthetics of their metal building. As a part of our color planner, we have 15 color options. From these options, you can select the color combination. You can pick colors for the roof panels, the side panels, the end panels as well as the trims. Wainscot option is also available if you want to give your metal barn some extra oomph.
Additional Features with Metal Seneca Barns
The roof-only barns are the most basic models of our Seneca barns. But if you want to strengthen this protection against the weather, then you can choose to increase the amount of coverage. The extra features that we offer with our roof-only Seneca barns are the addition of gables, side panels as well as the end panels. These additions can help to partially enclose your metal barn.
If you have purchased a completely enclosed metal barn kit, then you get to choose the openings for your metal Seneca barn. The number and placement of these openings, like our 30” x 30” single pane windows, our 36” x 80” walk-in doors as well as our roll-up garage doors, play an important role in the proper functioning of the metal barn.
However, if you would like to install an opening of your own design or install an opening at a later date, then you can choose to install opening frame-outs with your metal barn building.
Structural Strength of Metal Seneca Barns
Strength of Materials
The thickness of the steel components is measured by a unit called steel gauge. Gauge also determines the strength of the steel. In general, the higher the steel gauge, the less the thickness as well as the strength of the steel elements. The standard for all of our non-certified metal Seneca barn kits is 14-gauge. We also offer an option of upgrading the barn to 12-gauge framing for added structural strength. Certified units, in almost all cases, have 12-gauge steel tube frames.
We offer metal barn anchors to secure the metal barn building to the surface. This ensures the structure remains stable even during conditions which can put a lot of stress on the structure, like storms, heavy snowfall, etc. For barn installations over dirt or asphalt surfaces that are not certified, we use rebar anchors. For certified units over the same surfaces, we use mobile home anchors. We also use concrete/ wedge anchors for units that are to be installed over concrete surfaces. While barns that are built over wooden surfaces are anchored using lag bolts, we never certify these units.
All our metal Seneca barns, even the non-certified units come with at least the corner braces. In the case of certified units, you do not have to worry about the structural safety of the metal building since they are designed to withstand loads of that specific place. But you can further strengthen the stability of the metal barn buildings by installing extra bows and braces at an additional cost.
