Advantages of Metal Carports over Wooden Carports
There are a number of advantages to buying a custom metal carport compared to installing a wooden unit or concrete structure. These are important considerations to keep in mind when making a decision about what kind of building you should buy when you need to add to your storage space or cover your car or RV or other equipment for safe keeping and protection from the elements.
Custom metal buildings can be moved. A metal building can be quickly assembled on a prepared level site with anchor bolts and it can be just as easily disassembled and moved from one site to another. If you are renting your house or commercial building and you want to add to your space, this is the ideal way to do so as you can take the structure with you when you go.
Custom metal buildings are flexible. As the units are prefabricated in a factory with modular components, certain aspects of the building can be changed to enlarge the facility when you need the extra space. For example, a building can be made longer to accommodate a new motorbike into the garage. You may be able to afford an open carport now, but later want to enclose it into garage, this is easily achieved with the addition of standard sheeting panels.
Custom metal buildings can be specified for your specific conditions.
If you live in an area with high snow falls, you can specify your metal building so that the structure has sufficient strength for the snow load that you require, or if you live in a windy area, you can specify the wind rating of your unit. This means that you get what you need and you don’t pay for the extra strength structure if you are outside of a snow area etc. The larger the unit, the bigger the structural components will be, but for smaller units you can use smaller structural components and save money.
A custom prefabricated metal building means that you are in control to specify and pay for – only what you need.
Custom metal buildings don’t rot or get eaten. A major advantage of metal over wood is that metal is completely resistant to the things that cause damage to wood. Once wood has been affected by water and begins to rot, it is impossible to reverse this damage, and the same applies to wood that has been infested by termites. Metal products are long lasting and will not need to be replaced for many years as they are just not vulnerable to the physical elements and insects as wood products are.
Custom metal buildings cost less over the life of the unit. The lifespan of a metal unit is so much greater than that of a wooden alternative. The final cost of the structure is far more economical that a wooden unit that will need to be replaced quicker. The maintenance costs are also much lower as metal does not require continuous recoating with sealers and repair due to the effects of rot and insect damage. Even the initial cost of the metal building is reasonable and gives great value for money.
There are many advantages to purchasing a metal building compared to wooden structures or other alternatives. Keep all these in mind as you make your decision about what you need for your storage and garage requirements.
